Matura, located in East Trinidad, is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  Named by the Amerindians for its dense and unbroken forest, it is well known as a turtle nesting site and is home to a number of pools, waterfalls and gorges.

Join us as we gradually descend to the river through a lush pine forest and traverse along the river’s course until we come to this hidden gem, the Mermaid Pool, also known as Matura Basin.  The pool’s crystal-clear waters reflect breathtaking colours of emerald green and are ideal for swimming and relaxation.

Lounge in the revitalizing waters of the pool as you take in the Dragonflies, small fishes and large blue & black butterflies that abound.
